A “Non-Wedding” Wedding
This couple wanted something seemingly paradoxical. They wanted a wedding that didn’t feel like a wedding and they wanted everything to be casual but also black tie-formal. Rather than conforming to the usual formalities, E and C decided that their focus would be on candid moments, their close-knit family, their cherished friends, gourmet food, and the utmost fun. Their intention was clear: they wanted to create an atmosphere that exuded warmth and intimacy.
They began getting ready in the Newbury Hotel Boston overlooking the garden. Despite it raining in the morning, the storm clouds parted to reveal beautiful sun. They saw each other all dolled up in the gardens, surrounded by their family and friends to great cheers! After taking some photos in the gardens, we drove to Memorial drive overlooking the skyline. We then recreated an old photo of E’s grandmother in front of the John Handcock building. Finally, we drove to their reception at Mistral.
As the guests arrived at the ceremony, they were met with an unconventional setup. Standing room only, except for the parents and grandparents who were given the prime spot to witness the marriage. Instead of confined tables and designated seating arrangements, the gathering encouraged interaction and mingling among the attendees. An atmosphere where old friends and new acquaintances could easily strike up conversations.
After the ceremony, traditional sit-down dinners were replaced with a luxurious array of gourmet passed appetizers. Complementing the flavorful bites was an incredible buffet, overflowing with culinary delights for diverse tastes. The couple's decision to forgo assigned seating allowed guests to wander, explore, and savor the food at their own pace, fostering a relaxed atmosphere. As the day transformed into night, the celebration took an even more lively turn. The dance floor was packed all night! The energy and enthusiasm were electrifying, with big group hugs, chair lifts and group sing-a-longs. It truly was a celebration of love, unity and joy that enveloped the entire venue.
E is the kindest, most beautiful and warm person you could meet (also a doctor!) and C was so beloved by everyone at least 6 people said he was their best friend. They are the ultimate power couple and we were so lucky to be a part of their (not a wedding) wedding!
