It’s always wonderful to be at the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester rain or shine but this is the first time we’ve experienced such wild weather! There was not only rain but high winds, hail, a blindingly golden sunset and even a purse caught fire! The dramatic weather belied the sweet and even-tempered nature of Sarah and Matt, who brought nothing but love and happiness to their wedding day. Gotta love it when mother nature decides to throw some spice into the mix!
We began with the getting ready in their respective rooms overlooking the water. They had a quick first look on the deck before running inside to escape the hail! We took photos of the wedding party and then tucked away for the ceremony. The ceremony was short and sweet as the guests filled the room to the brim with their well wishes. During the cocktail hour we all went outside on the rain-covered deck to get an all-group family shot, which was so fun!
Finally everyone came inside for the start of the reception. They had a beautiful choreographed first dance and dipped at exactly the right angle for us to catch it perfectly, which almost never happens! After some heartfelt toasts by Sarah’s father, sister and Matt’s brothers, we snuck outside for the last time to catch the golden sunset. The Beauport Hotel always has such gorgeous sunsets and that night was no exception. It was a brilliant golden orange that we will never forget. Cheers to the newly married couple!
HOW THEY MET
Their first date was supposed to be just drinks in Cambridge but they were both enjoying the conversation so much that they decided to continue the date through dinner! They both immediately felt like the connection they had with each other was different from any other connection they had with anyone in the past. They were surprised with how many things they had in common and it made them both feel like they had known each other for a long time.
HOW HE PROPOSED
They got engaged during the height of covid in 2020. We both knew we were ready to take that next step and had gone ring shopping together so Sarah knew that it was coming but didn't know when. Matt proposed the week before Christmas which caught Sarah by surprise as she was expecting a Christmas or New Years proposal. Because of covid, the proposal had to happen in their apartment with just the two of them but that made it so special to have that moment. Matt filled the apartment with flowers and chocolates and Sarah came home from work and saw all of the flowers then saw Matt down on one knee!
