Gardens at Elm Bank Wedding

Kerry and Dan’s wedding began at the Hotel Commonwealth overlooking Fenway Park. The ladies were lip syncing to songs while getting ready and the guys were drinking beers in their customized mugs. We were looking at the impending rain showers and made a snap decision to have the first look in the Boston Public gardens before the rain fell. It was a sweet moment between them before the sky opened up and we raced back to the car., just making it inside before it got really bad.

We then drove over to Wellesley to the Gardens at Elm Bank. The rain had stopped by the time we got there so they decided to have the ceremony outside. It was blue skies all the way up until everyone walked down the aisle. As they began their vows, an ominous cloud suddenly came over and began pouring on the guests! We ran to give umbrellas to everyone as they continued their vows. As soon as the rain had come, it suddenly disappeared and out came the sunlight just before the first kiss! It truly was a magical moment that no one will forget.

We then took some time to explore the gardens as the guests went to cocktail hour. They had such meaningful speeches by Kerry’s parents, Kerry’s Maid of Honor and Dan’s Best Man. Once the dancing began, everyone was crowding the dance floor. There were so many emotions throughout the day that the dancing was the perfect release the energy. Such a beautiful and memorable wedding!

HOW THEY MET

As many modern romances start in San Francisco, Dan and Kerry met on the dating app Bumble in the fall of 2016. They shared some witty banter back and forth before meeting for their first date at a wine bar in the Marina District of SF. Kerry thought Dan was smart, charming, funny, refreshingly East Coast, and a bit idiosyncratic (she still does) and remembers laughing a lot that night. The days that followed brought more dates and more laughter. Now several years, international flights, family visits, elections, SF apartment moves, and a few Super Bowl wins for each of them (though obviously more for Kerry) later, they are thrilled to be starting the next phase of their lives together.

HOW THEY GOT ENGAGED

Kerry and Dan were in Boston for a quick weekend trip to celebrate Kerry's Dad's 70th birthday. That morning, they stopped in to visit Kerry's childhood friends Jill & Todd. When they arrived, Jill & Todd's oldest son Liam presented Kerry with a treasure hunt map as an early birthday gift. Kerry followed Liam throughout their house in search of "treasures": sweet gifts like candies, socks, chapstick, a jewelry box, and a beautiful necklace were found along the way. Kerry exclaimed that it was the best gift she'd ever gotten even before finding the final hiding spot. Liam led Kerry to the last treasure hidden under a couch pillow... and then Dan revealed that this gift was actually from him. Kerry only knows what happened next from the photos and videos that Jill and Todd captured (she blacked out from shock and excitement). That afternoon brought more celebrations with friends and family, all culminating with an even more joyful evening at Ted's 70th birthday party.
