On May the 4th, Amanda and Michael got married at the Renaissance Boston Patriot’s Place Hotel and had their portraits taken at the nearby cranberry bog. Amanda is a self described "hyper planner". Having worked in the hospitality industry coordinating other people's events for a few years early in her career, she already had a taste for the planning world, so she was excited to turn the tables to work with her future husband and plan an event of her own, including all the extra details for flavor. The date of May 4th wasn't an accident. They love sci-fi in general, so getting married on a Star Wars day (May the "Fourth" be with you) was perfect. This lent well to a "northern lights" theme with sci-fi accents. From the beautiful cake to the Millennium Falcon guest book, everything was perfectly on theme.
Their Story
Michael and Amanda met in Fall of 2003 while attending Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. They quickly became treasured friends. Three years later, they were taking a walk together one Autumn evening in 2006. While laughing and gazing into the city skyline they both realized their relationship was growing into something more than friendship alone. With butterflies and excitement, they started dating.
Amanda received an enticing job offer in 2010, but it would require her to move to Boston. She remembers Michael being extremely supportive as she accepted the job and they made the difficult decision to live apart until he finished a second college degree. He joined her in Boston a couple years later. Elated to be living in the same zipcode again, they made Massachusetts feel like home with their two fur babies, Ezra and Lilly. They made amazing new friends, found favorite activities like visiting the local zoo and exploring the beautiful Northeast, and became full fledged New England Revolution Soccer fans.
Engagement Story
On October 29, 2017 Michael took Amanda on a behind the scenes adventure at Stone Zoo. They had a one-on-one experience with a zookeeper named Katie who took them into the animal enclosure to meet and feed the sloths Lunesta and Nero!. He remembers being extremely nervous, because he had a surprise yet to come. Zookeeper Katie offered to take a few pictures of the couple with the sloths, at which time Michael knelt and asked Amanda to marry him. Through smiles and happy tears and giggles and surprise--she said 'of course!'
