Mari + Jon | Boston Seaport and Belmont Wedding
After planning a big State Room wedding for a year a half they had to quickly pivot to planning a smaller gathering in Mari's parents backyard. Though they couldn't have the wedding they originally hoped for, they are just happy to still be getting married. They also bought a house two months before their wedding, so it’s been exciting having so many big life events happen all at the same time in the middle of a pandemic!
They began getting ready at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf hotel. It was a beautiful and warm early October day with only a slight chill of fall in the air. They separately took family and bridal party photos outside at the nearby Christopher Columbus park by the water. Afterwards, they drove to their Armenian Church in Watertown. When Jon saw Mari for the first time coming down the aisle, he teared up, which was such a touching moment to witness. After their ceremony, they had a bubble exit coming down the steps into the trolley.
We drove to Rock Meadow Park in Belmont for photos and the sun was setting at the perfect time. We got the most amazing glow as we walked along the grassy paths. Then it was off to their reception at Mari’s parent’s home. They set up a tent in the back yard with the most amazing florals decorating the rustic farm tables. The reception was so much fun with beautiful moments throughout. A huge congrats to Mari + Jon!
How They Met
Jon attended Bowdoin College where Mari's best friend from High School also went. After four years of Mari visiting Bowdoin many times she and Jon had never met. Once Jon graduated they both attended a "Bowdoin" party and it was love at first site - with a little help from one of their friends playing match maker in the background. They spent the night talking, dancing and the rest is history. Jon and Mari will have met 5 years ago on October 10th - so feels right to be getting married in October!
Engagement Story
Jon planed a surprise birthday trip for Mari up to Maine. They stayed at the Cliff House hotel in Cape Neddick (where they also are honeymooning). Knowing Mari's love for lighthouses Jon took her to see Nubble Lighthouse in York, ME - as they were heading back to the car he tapped her on the shoulder and the rest is history!
