Gloucester Beach Wedding
It’s hard to put into words the perfection of this day. Everything took place at an amazing house called the Sandcastle on a private beach in Gloucester. The Sandcastle has water surrounding three sides with a huge porch encircling it. All week long Saturday was supposed to be awful weather with fierce thunderstorms rolling through threatening to ruin the beach wedding. When we arrived, it was bright and sunny and everyone was so relaxed. The kids were running around and everyone was enjoying the beautiful day. They had their first look on the dunes overlooking the expanse of ocean. It was a sweet moment and you could tell how much they loved each other in those photos we captured on the beach.
The moment of their ceremony was the one nerve wracking point of the whole day. We could see dark clouds and hear thunder rumbling in the distance. Despite this, they went on with their ceremony, as planned. I felt about 10 drops of rain total as they narrowly passed us by. Dewald’s friend officiated the wedding and he truly made it about them. He told stories of their personalities and how wonderful they were together as a couple. With an exchange of rings and a kiss, they were married.
The reception was a casual clambake with a delicious raw bar, lobster, steak and of course local clams! The kids quickly changed out of their formal attire to swim in the ocean or jump around in the boucey house while the adults relaxed on the porch overlooking one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen at a wedding. The sun set right over the water, a rarity on the east coast. We couldn’t resist snapping a few more photos of them on the beach before leaving. Congratulations to the happy couple as they start their new life together as a family!
